How to Style an Oversized White Shirt

If there’s one item that every woman should have in her closet that never goes out of style, it’s a white dress shirt. And by 2020, we’ve seen multiple variations of this. My favourite? The oversized white shirt. It’s become a major style staple in

Valentine’s Day Date Ideas in Winnipeg

Valentine’s Day Date Ideas in Winnipeg

Let’s be honest ladies, if you’re anything like me, you’ll very likely be the one in the relationship to make the V-Day plans this year. I think out of Nico and I’s 7 Valentine’s Days together (wow we’re getting old), he’s planned… 2 of them?! I’ve searched high and low for fun, unique Valentine’s Day Date Ideas in Winnipeg and I want to share them with YOU!

I am definitely not complaining about this, just saying… type A personalities get it.

Like many holidays, sometimes making plans for Valentine’s Day can be intimidating and often end up underwhelming. Anyone else getting New Year’s Eve déjà vu right about now?!

So whether you’re in charge this year, or just need to throw a couple hints your partner’s way, I pulled together 7 different Valentine’s Day Date Ideas in Winnipeg (or wherever you live) to make your day low-key, stress-free, and super fun!

Regardless of if your Valentine’s Day Date is your long term boyfriend/girlfriend, new fling, or pack of besties, these ideas are versatile enough to work for any relationship!

Check them out:

1. Evening at Thermea Nordik Spa. There is nothing more romantic than a relaxing evening spent at the spa, and Thermea’s “thermal experience” makes it super easy to do just that. Even without booking a pricey massage or treatment. What’s great about Thermea is you’re not limited to a set amount of time. You can spend an hour or 5 in the pools, saunas, and all the relaxation spaces, making it the perfect setting to get some well needed R&R and quality time together.

2. Dinner & a movie at home. If you’re not feeling a busy night out, then make an evening out of staying home! Find a new recipe or pick up all the ingredients for your favourite meal in advance and cook it together. Then, light some candles and cozy up for a movie night. Whether you’re on a budget or just want something laid-back, it’s easy to make a night at home feel extra special with a few simple touches.

3. Hotel Staycation. With Valentine’s Day falling on a Friday this year, it’s the perfect time to book a much-needed staycation. Staying overnight at a hotel provides a nice change of pace. Book dinner at a nearby restaurant or just order room service with a nice bottle of wine. See my post on my Staycation at Mere Hotel for more tips on how to getaway together without taking a trip.

4. Wine tasting. Perfect for 2, better with more, host a mini wine tasting! Purchase a few (based on how many people) different wines and put together a fun tasting experience. Pick a theme like “Italian wines”, or just some varieties of your favourite types of wine, and spend the evening taste testing! Be sure to add in some snacks… like a cheese or charcuterie board!

5. Après Skate. Prep your hot chocolate & Baileys, or my personal favourite, hot chocolate & fireball, lace up your skates and head out for an evening skate. In Winnipeg, there are so many great places to go skating! Head to The Forks’ skating trails, or choose somewhere more intimate like a nearby pond (I love Harbourview if you’re on this side of the city). After skating, take advantage of après skate and settle in with some cocktails (preferably hot ones!) for a relaxing night in.

6. Couples Workout. One of the best ways to reconnect is to try something new! If you only have some limited time to spend together, or you’re looking for some pre-dinner fun, try a new workout together! I recommend a class that either one or both of you have never tried before. Try boxing class “Crush” at The Community Gym, or hot yoga at Modo Yoga!

7. Cooking Class: If getting sweaty isn’t your jam, but you still want more of an experience, book a cooking class! Deluca’s offers a cooking class complete with a 4-course meal, wine tasting and more. It’s fun to do something you wouldn’t usually do on a day like Valentine’s Day. Why not mix it up and try something different?

With all these ideas, how will you pick just one?! I recommend doing what feels right this Valentine’s Day, and keep the rest in your back pocket for next year. Orrrr when you need a date idea in a pinch this winter!

Wishing you a Valentine’s Day full of love, wine, and hopefully some chocolate!
