HOW TO LIVE LAKE LIFE EVERYDAY

HOW TO LIVE LAKE LIFE EVERYDAY

For me, the cabin has always been my soul’s sanctuary.

There’s just something about the peaceful serenity of being “at the lake”. Whether it’s your own cabin, or a friend’s or family’s, everyone can relate to the calm happiness that just radiates from you when you’re living the lake life.

As much as I’d love to live out at the lake alllll summer long, it’s just not feasible when you have a job and well, a life, so I’ve put together a list of my favourite ways to make the lake livin’ continue beyond the weekends and into the rest of the week AKA reality.

1. WAKE UP EARLY & SIP YOUR COFFEE SLOW

Why wake up late and rush out the door with coffee in a to-go cup, or worse, making a trip to the drive-thru in the A.M.? Set your alarm just a little bit early, make yourself some drip coffee or an espresso, and take a few minutes to enjoy the quiet either on your deck or from bed with the morning light streaming through your window.

2. GET ICE CREAM OR ICED COFFEE AND JUST WALK

Growing up (and still), we’d get our favourite ice cream and just walk through town at the lake, but who’s stopping you from doing that in the city? Instead of meeting for drinks, meet your girls for a walk through the neighbourhood and grab a gelato or cone for the way!

3. MAKE A PITCHER OF SANGRIA OR A BATCH OF PORCH CLIMBERS

Two of my fav lake drinks, but make them city-side instead! Late nights in the backyard aren’t only for the lake… just make sure you’re not still on “lake time” when your work alarm hits at 6 am!

4. HEAD OUT TO THE BEACH AFTER WORK

Who says you can’t hit the beach after your 9-5? We always consider the beach as a daytime thing, but taking a drive out to your favourite spot after prime sun time is perfect for a walk by the water, or just to sit on the sand. I love spending golden hour by the water, it’s so serene and relaxing!

5. ENJOY DINNER OUTSIDE

Put that patio table to use, or better yet, grab a picnic blanket and some cushions and sprawl out on the grass with a glass of wine and whatever you cooked up for din and take advantage of the warm evenings and long daylight hours. I love eating outside but we don’t do it nearly enough!
