New Year’s Resolutions for 2020

New Year’s Resolutions for 2020

Here we are. A new year, a new DECADE, and as always, a new start. I’m sure you can relate that because we’re entering a new decade, it feels like the pressure is on… and like my New Year’s Resolutions for 2020 better be . The pressure is on to reset all aspects of my life and start the ’20s on a high note.

This year (or decade should I say) I’ve separated my resolutions into 2 categories: RESETS and REMINDERS.

Resets being things that I want to really, truly work on for the long haul. Whether that’s changing my perspective or mindset on something, or a longer term goal I need to work toward, day in and day out, all year long.

Reminders being things that I want to remind myself to do more often. Things that I can easily incorporate into my days, without too much thought.

Shall we begin?

RESETS

1. HEALTH

Make my physical health a priority. 2019 was probably my most consistent year of working out to date, but oddly enough I fell off my healthy eating train many times. This year, I want to nourish my body the way it deserves to be nourished, and continue my consistent workout routine, both at GoodLife Fitness and boutique bootcamps and classes.

2. CAREER

2019 was a mix of finishing university and starting my career, and honestly, it’s kind of been a blur. In 2020, I’ll no longer be playing the “recent grad” card and so I want to be able to advance myself and my experience through gaining some expertise in my field. Whether that’s through taking some online courses, taking a distance course or taking on new projects related to my role, I want this year to allow me take some steps in my career, as it will be my first full year out of school!

3. PERSONAL BRAND/BLOG

I made some big leaps with my blog this year; I’ve been able to monetize it and create an additional source of income through it, I’ve gained followers and brought myself nearing the 10K mark, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with brands (whether paid or unpaid) that I wouldn’t have dreamed I’d work with. However, I still feel there are many untapped opportunities I want to explore this upcoming year. From new creative formats to leveraging my influence in a more impactful way, this year I hope to take some real meaningful steps.

REMINDERS

1. Read more

When I have down time, instead of grabbing my phone and scrolling, I want to grab a book and read a chapter or two. I will start by keeping a book in my bag and bringing it along with me, and keeping a book bedside or accessible to reach for.

2. Drink more water.

While this has been something I’ve worked on for multiple years (Face check 2018 New Year’s Resolutions — I dare you) I’ll say it again for 2020 because I need the reminder. Only this year, I want to be more cognizant of the litres I drink each day, not just the amount of times I drink.

3. Enjoy the moment.

Put down the phone, forget the stress, but live purely and soak up the moment.

There they are! My resets and reminders for 2020. Whether follow the same outline, or stick to resolutions, goals, or whatever it is: making the first ’20s exactly how you want it to be is in your hands. Start it off right, and make it your year.

I said it in my 2019 New Year’s Resolutions and I’ll say it again for 2020: until I write out my resolutions/goals for resetting I don’t feel fully accountable to them. So if you’re feeling like you need a little motivation or push forward to get started, I highly recommend scribbling them out on a piece of paper or writing them in a note on your phone or laptop.

CHEERS TO THE NEW DECADE! WE GOT THIS.
