Brow Lamination at Brows by G

They say eyebrows make or break your whole face, and they are not wrong. I’ve recently tried brow lamination at Brows By G and I truly did not know what I was missing…

ABOUT BROWS BY G

Brows by G is probably the most well known, highly sought after brow salon in Winnipeg, for good reason. Giovanna Minenna founded the brand in 2015 and quickly grew it into a multi-service, multi-location company offering a range of brow services including shaping, tinting, Microblading, Micropigmentation, henna, and most recently brow lamination. In addition to the services offered at Brows by G, Giovanna herself also has a second company, browluxe® Precision Brow Pencils, as seen on CBC Dragon’s Den. Giovanna has created an eyebrow empire not only here in Winnipeg, but across Canada, and for good reason. She developed her brow business into an innovative, constantly evolving company making big moves in the market.

MY BROW HISTORY

Luckily I was just young enough to skip through the overplucked eyebrows stage — phewffff but that does not exempt me from having bad brows! In fact I thought I had terrible brows… uneven, not super full, and low arches. I filled them in almost everyday, and felt self conscious any time I didn’t. To my surprise, after my first visit to Brows by G I quickly realized I just didn’t fully know what to do with them.

BROW LAMINATION: What is it?

Brow lamination put simply is a perm for your eyebrows. If you’re a late 90’s kid like me who never experienced perms, basically a perm changes the shape of your hair and sets it in place. So brow lamination realigns and sets your eyebrow hairs to create a full, feathery and fluffy look. Before brow lamination, I would always try to set my eyebrow hairs in an upward direction with gel, but without fail they would fall back into their natural shape. With brow lamination, you can easily brush your brow hairs into an upward position and they actually stay there, creating a natural, full look.

BROW LAMINATION: The Process

The process of brow lamination is virtually painless. Using a Health Canada approved chemical treatment, the Brow Specialist (in my case, Carley — who was amazing!!) applies it to the brows which sets them into shape. I opted for a shape and tint, which is done midway through the process. Brow lamination will make your tint appear slightly darker than normal. But I love that the Brow Specialist works with you to determine the best tint colour, based on your wants. If you want your tint to last longer, you opt for a darker shade. For me, since I was planning on highlighting my hair soon, I opted for a slightly lighter colour that I typically would for these reasons.

At this point, you’ll be able to see what the brows look like and decide whether you would like the hairs trimmed at all. With less full brows like myself, I chose a trim so they wouldn’t look too wild. However, if you have big brows and want that bushy look, you could keep them as they are and have at ‘er!

THE RESULTS

All in all, I have been absolutely LOVING my brow lamination from Brows by G! They look so natural, but still add life to my face — especially during the fair skin winter season. It also really cuts back on the time it takes me to get ready in the morning, as no filling in is required! I honestly never imagined I would be able to achieve such beautiful brows with what I have naturally, but what can I say, Brows by G is pure magic.
