Being a blonde is HARD WORK! In order to keep my blonde looking fresh and bright, I took a well deserved trip to Verde Salon in Winnipeg for a cut and colour experience like I’ve never experienced before.

To me, getting your hair done should be something to get excited about, not just because you’re freshening up your look but because it’s 3-4 hours of pure relaxation and bliss. Well at least that’s the way it is when you experience Verde Salon in Winnipeg.

Verde Aveda Salon

Last week I stopped by the est. 2017 Verde Salon to get my hair done but it would up being so much more than that! As Verde is an Aveda Salon, they use all Aveda products and follow the principles of holistic thinking, with “the belief that individual beauty is directly linked to the beauty of the world around us”. With this, all Aveda products are cruelty-free and made from naturally derived ingredients, with over 85% of their styling products made from 100% post-consumer recycled materials; so you know exactly what you get here.

The Experience

The minute I walked into Verde Salon to get my hair done, I could just feel the luxury. I was greeted and immediately offered a drink (wine, beer, a hot beverage from the espresso bar). After this I was taken to meet my stylist, Rachel, who sat down with me to run through what my hair is like hair and what I wanted for it. She was so patient and interested in finding out exactly what I was looking for, before recommending babylights with balayage foils — the perfect combination to brighten up my hair while keeping it rooty so it can remain low maintenance and not require touch ups too frequently.

I LOVE that she was able to achieve such a refreshed look that doesn’t require constant maintenance. Because as much as I’d love to get my hair done at Verde every 6 weeks, that is just not realistic for my current lifestyle. So it was awesome that Rachel was able to recommend a hair colour suitable to my budget and timeline.

The Routine

First things first, Rachel applied the babylights and used balayage foils in between.
As soon as she finished foiling, she brought me a 9 oz glass of wine, an iPad stocked with e-magazines, and treated me to a hand massage — again, such. a. treatment!

Following my hairprocessing, she applied the toner that would suit my skin tone (which is warm) to keep the colour from going brassy. She then applied an Olaplex treatment (which I also use ~once a week at home), and then Aveda’s signature Botanical Treatment to my hair, before washing it with their Sap Moss volumizing shampoo and conditioner. This duo happens to be one of Aveda’s first shampoo and conditioner, which was recently brought back due to popular demand!

After my hair was completed and styled, I was offered a complimentary make-up touch up. Although at 10 pm it wasn’t entirely necessary, it was great to try the Aveda skincare products. Had my appointment been in the middle of the day, having my makeup touched up before leaving would have been such a lifesaver after sitting in the chair for a few hours!

Finally, before I left, I was given an adorable little package, filled with goodies from the salon including a trial size of Aveda’s Damage Remedy restructuring conditioner, Smooth Infusion style prep smoother, a tea bag, and a complimentary blow out! Talk about ending on a high note.

The Verdict on Verde Salon in Winnipeg

After my service at Verde, I can confidently say this is one of the most professional and high quality salons in Winnipeg. I like to call it, luxury on a budget as you truly can get such a variety of services at all different price points, based on your budget — and feel pampered all the same! With the various levels of stylists (levels are based on their education and experience), you’re sure to find a stylist that can perform a service for you within your price range, allowing us all to enjoy the Verde Aveda Experience!
