GET A PHOTO READY SUMMER GLOW

GET A PHOTO READY SUMMER GLOW

Summer for me is the prime time for photos! My skin is tanned, the weather allows for it (l o l @ Winnipeg winters…), my outfits are on point, and I’m usually having the most fun!

But in order to get that dewy summer glow that really comes through in photos, there’s just a fewwww things I do first… follow these simple steps:

  1. EXFOLIATE: get rid of that dead, dry skin! Your makeup will go on SO much more smoothly, and your face will feel like baby skin. I love to use a Clean & Clear’s Acne Triple Clear exfoliating scrub once a week, and the salicylic acid in it keeps me from breaking out – BONUS!
  2. APPLY SERUM: If you’re still not on the serum train, you need to hop on! It adds an extra boost of moisture before moisturizing, letting more potent hydrators sink right into your skin. I’ve been using Vichy’s new Aqualia Thermal line and I feel like I’ve been baptized by the sea every time I put it on
  3. MOISTURIZE : I’ve said it before (in every skincare post) but moisturizing your face is soooo essential! Especially when we’re constantly out in the sun everyday, damaging our skin. It provides you with a base coat of moisture before layering on a whole bunch of makeup products. Lately I’ve been using Vichy Aqualia Thermal light cream, and I’m loving how light and gentle it is for summer!
  4. FACIAL TANNING OIL: I’ve recently added this to my routine and it’s been a game changer! Once a week, I apply St. Tropez Self Tan Luxe Facial Oil to my face and it creates a dewy bronze glow for the days to come, while adding extra moisture and not clogging your pores! Remember that time I asked if anyone actually puts self tanner on their face? Well this bronzing Facial Oil is the answer, babes!
  5. PRIME: if you don’t prime before you put on your foundation or powder, you’re doing it wrong! Primer adds a base that will smooth your skin to help your makeup go on evenly, and keeps it looking fresh all day. I use Marc Jacobs Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Primer and I loooove how lightweight it is, without being too matte or too shiny.
  6. ILLUMINATION POWDER(light): I just started using IT Cosmeti’s Celebration Foundation Illumination powder (shade: light) this spring and I am obsessed! I have oily skin and I always used to use matte powders, but this is unlike anything I’ve ever used! It adds a beautiful shine without making your skin look greasy or oily. Not only does it really make your face glow in photos, but it’s just as beautiful IRL with just a touch of natural glow to it.

There you have it, girls! 6 simple steps to get that summer glow and be prepared for your close ups (or selfies)!
