3 BENEFITS OF WEARING SPF SUNSCREEN

3 BENEFITS OF WEARING SPF SUNSCREEN

Happy July, my loves! I celebrated Canada Day at the beach and on the boat this past weekend like many Canadians, and I’m sure all the Americans reading this will be doing the same later this week for 4th of July! There’s nothing like

GET A PHOTO READY SUMMER GLOW

Summer for me is the prime time for photos! My skin is tanned, the weather allows for it (l o l @ Winnipeg winters…), my outfits are on point, and I’m usually having the most fun! But in order to get that dewy summer glow

BRONZED & MORE BRONZED WITH VITA LIBERATA

Outfit details below!

By now, you guys know that I’m obsessed with natural glow of the summer sun on my skin. Hence, Brains & Bronzed. I love a tan looks on my skin, how it hides imperfections, and how it actually just puts me in a happier mood! But as much as I love to be tanned, I am very concerned with ensuring my skin remains protected from damage the sun can have on it, meaning I am constantly applying SPF and I avoid fake tanning. As much as I don’t want to admit it, summer’s coming to an end, and I’m so not ready to lose this bronze! Especially living in Canada, our winters are cold as heck so we tend to get pretty pale pretty quick. Naturally, my skin is a bit olive tone and darker than most, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still feel the wrath of turning snow white as soon as October hits! But with a little help from Vita Liberata’s self tanning products, I’m now ready to take on the fall and winter while keeping this healthy glow going beyond the sunny season!

Vita Liberata is an Irish skincare company with expertise and a focus on tanning. They’ve created the word’s first non-toxic sunless-tanning solutions that are completely free of parabens, perfumes, and alcohol. This is so important to me because if I’m not going to let the sun damage my skin, why would I let harsh chemicals damage my skin and body? They’ve recently launched 3 new products as part as their tanning line, and I’ve tested them out to give you the tried & true results!

First off, Ten Minute Tan

Okay, now this is seriously as good as it sounds. I smoothed this caramel coloured lotion all over your body, blending it until it absorbed and after 10 minutes, I hopped in the shower and rinsed off, my skin feeling super nourished and soft! I absolutely hate waiting for self-tanner to absorb before showering or swimming, so the fact that this one actually calls for you to shower almost immediately after application is amazing! I loved that I could apply this product in the AM and get ready for the day just like usual right after. So long to applying self-tanner overnight and waking up with stinky and streaky sheets! Over the rest of the day, I noticed the tan gradually appear and I was gettin’ glowin’. Another major bonus is that it didn’t leave my skin streaky at all! Granted I already have a solid base tan so I wasn’t starting from scratch, but I noticed no marks at all! Soooo smooth!

Next up, Body Blur

Different from the Ten Minute Tan, Body Blur HD Skin Finish works as a body foundation, so instead of actually soaking into your skin, it sits on top as a body bronzer, just like a light foundation does on your face. It hides imperfections, like redness, uneven skin tone, cellulite, and even light scars. This lotion was so easy to blend into my skin, I was worried about streaks and orange marks but when I applied it, it felt like it was made for me! This product had even less of a scent than did the Ten Minute Tan, which is an added bonus. I wouldn’t use this on an everyday basis, but definitely for those girls night outs or date nights when you want to feel extra glam, this would be a go-to. Like the Ten Minute Tan, it too is super natural looking, but I found it offers just the slightest bit more colour than the first. I will definitely try these together on my next use to get maximum bronzing capacity!

Last but not least, Trystal Pressed Powder

Like Bronzer, but better! This pressed powder acts just like your usual bronzer, only it actually leaves behind a sun-kissed glow lasting for days, even after you wash it off. Plus it’s matte, so none of that fake, sparkly look we all know and hate. I used this all over my face and neck, focusing on certain areas for a contoured effect. It’s also perfect for an on-the-go glow, either touch ups or travel! Throw this in your bag, grab a kabuki and apply on your face or body anytime, anywhere. I also love that they made a pressed version of this mineral bronzing powder, as I find pressed powders so much easier to apply than loose. Seriously, this bronzer = game-changer. I tried the lighter shade, “Sunkissed” which was a tad light on my currently tanned-skin, but I think it’ll be perfect in the next couple months to give my winter skin a subtle but healthy and awake look!

All in all, I’m a major fan of this new collection! All three of these products can be found at Sephora or on the Vita Liberata website. I would totally recommend you make your run to grab these before we lose the sun and start living the bronzed life alllll year long!

Can’t forget, All about the outfit

I’m not typically one to venture into monochromatic looks (mono = single, chromatic = colour, AKA outfit consisting of just 1 colour), but something about these pale pinks all together was so fun for a day walking around town. This off-the-shoulder dress by MinkPink is seriously one of my fav dresses this summer! I love how it’s a little bit different than your typical OTS with the ruffled neckline and boyish t-shirt style. I layered this tassel necklace on top and it’s literally the cherry on top of the cupcake (because I kind of feel like a cupcake in this dress), making the look a little more bold and a lot more fun! I’m also wearing my newest obsession, my Ray-Ban Gatsby shades because literally, when do I take them off? These sunnies are the perfect mix of classy and cool with the black plastic frame with a gold brow bar and dark lenses. And lastly for the shoes, I opted for a pair of pale pink Nine West pointed toe slide ons because comfort is key and I want to get as much wear out of these bad boys as possible while the weather allows it! Summer will be leaving us soon, but we still have a few more weeks to get away with it so I’ll be sneaking in alllll the summer looks while I still can!
