How to Layer Necklaces

How to Layer Necklaces

Layered necklaces are one of the biggest accessory trends this year. A trend that I am 100% behind!

I love the idea of mix and matching a number of chokers, necklaces, chains for a result will always be unique to you! There really is no method to the madness of layering necklaces, but there are a few secrets to make sure your layering techniques are right!

If you’re in need of some tips on how to layer necklaces, I’ve got two little tricks to help you out:

Use different length necklaces

This is ESSENTIAL! If your necklaces are too close in length, they will just blend together. Then you won’t get that multi-dimensional look that layering gives. Opt for 2-4 necklaces, all in different lengths so as to not overdo it.

Use chains of different weights

This ensures your chains don’t tangle! If you choose a choker and a chain, you won’t have this problem. But when your chains are more similar in length, this becomes extremely important! Various weights will keep the necklaces in place, instead of intertwining with each other and creating a more messy look!

My style

I love to mix up my layered necklace look depending on my outfit! In this case, with my sweater’s deep v-neck, I option for 3 pieces. Each of these necklaces has a personal meaning/connection for me, and being able to combine them all at once is so special! However, if you don’t have meaningful pieces that work together, I see no wrong in getting yourself some necklaces/chains/chokers to build your own layering collection!

  1. First layer: the shortest chain, a mini The Giving Keys necklace (a Christmas gift from Nico)
  2. Second layer: the middle chain, the first Greek alphabet gold coin (purchased this summer in Santorini)
  3. Third layer: the longest chain, a Saint Christopher pendant (a Birthday gift from my Nana when I was little)

That’s it, that’s all for advice I have to give on how to layer necklaces. Because at the end of the day, the whole idea of layering is to curate a unique look that’s personal to you & only you! So go ahead & get creative with it!
