THE GLOSSIER VERDICT

THE GLOSSIER VERDICT

If you’re at all into skin products and makeup, you’ve definitely spotted the ever popular pink babydoll-looking brand that is Glossier (pronounced GLOSS-EE-AY) all over social media. The hype around these products is real so I wanted to find out exactly what it is that makes this uber modern and minimal brand so intriguing, and see if it lives up to expectations!

Although known for their Balm Dot Com skin and lip salve and, Boy, Brow eyebrow pencil, and Jelly Cleanser, Glossier has a straight-to-the-point collection of products for your entire face routine from start to finish, all the skin care and makeup essentials you actually need, not just buy because its new or hyped up.

The simple white and pink packaging with its italicized black Glossier stamp is a symbol of its minimalism and quality, and a futuristic take on what we consider to be makeup staples. Packaged up in a pink bubble wrap bag inside of a seemingly sticker covered box, the line consists of products to take you from morning to night with cleansers, serums, and masks, plus concealer, foundation, lipsticks and more. When you try some of these products out for yourself, it’s easy to see how Glossier has so quickly climbed the ranks to become a become a cult classic brand in such a short period of time… Discover my real recap on 3 key products:

THE RECAP

Super Bounce and Super Pure Serums:

Both of these serums are formulated for different skin care needs, Super Bounce is just a little bit of a thicker serum with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5 for intense hydration, and Super Pure is quite thin with Niacinamide and Zinc for skin clarity. For this reason, I used both at different times throughout the week (under moisturizer of course), depending on my skin’s needs at that time. Both serums are super gentle and I would almost consider them to be a “beginners serum” for their simplicity of ingredients and gentle nature.

THE VERDICT? I enjoyed using them both, and the duo pack is not that expensive; however I’m not sure if I would repurchase!

Moisturizing Moon and Mega Greens Galaxy Pack Masks:

Once again, both masks have very different jobs, and I would almost align them with the above serums to play double skin duty. Even applied generously over my entire face, these two masks dry up almost immediately and I almost forgot I had put them on after the 20 minutes was up!  Moisturizing Moon does just what it says, it’s a thirst quencher for your skin when it needs it, and this mask is something I’d use once or twice a week. Mega Greens Galaxy Pack on the other hand, is something I’d like to use everyday. I felt that it both detoxified and moisturized my skin, plus the exfoliators in it just added that extra little scrub that I like to get when rinsing off a face mask.

THE VERDICT? I loved both of these masks, and will definitely be restocking on my Mega Greens Galaxy once I run out!

Balm Dot Com Skin Salve:

It ain’t named after the bomb .com for nothing This little salve is power in a package, and can be used for your skin or lips, however, it’s vaseline-esque formula makes it a must for my lips. I go through times with the worse chapped lips in the winter, so having this to layer on in the morning, night, and throughout the day is a life saver. Although I haven’t tried it on my skin, I think I would use it more as a hand cream rather than face product… something about its texture just seems wrong to use as a face cream, but then again I’m a little crazy about what goes on my face. Despite this, it’s nice to know that I could safely apply it on my face if a dry skin emergency arose! I also LOVE that it comes in some of my fave flaves, coconut, birthday, and mint!

THE VERDICT? I want this in every flavour! Birthday flavoured Balm Dot Com is already in my shopping cart waiting for an order to be placed.

Overall, the brand lives up to the hype for a line of simple basics for ANY skin type. If you have calm skin that doesn’t require a lot of specialized products, or have sensitive skin that needs gentle products, I would definitely recommend this brand for your skincare needs! If you’re like me and switch up your products all the time, aside from a few cult classics, well Glossier might just become one of your newest cult classics!
